His second book titled, “Join the conversation: How to engage marketing-weary consumers with the power of community, dialogue and partnership” was published by Wiley in October 2007. Join the Conversation outlines the birth and rise of “conversational marketing” – a vision of literally what comes next and how marketers can become part of the conversation, instead of constantly disrupting it.
Joseph’s impassioned, straight-shooting and honest perspectives have found their way to every major media outlet, including the likes of CBS Evening News, ABC World News, Bloomberg, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Fortune, Newsweek, Business Week, Ad Age, Adweek and the list continues.
Joseph is a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Digital Future at the USC Annenberg School, as well as the Society for New Communications Research. He also has lectured at NYU's Stern School of Business, Cornell's Johnson School of Business and Syracuse University.

Julie Fitzpatrick
Julie is co-founder of Global Red Australia and is a recognised leader in the loyalty and relationship marketing industry and has pioneered the foundation of Australasia’s first true Behaviour Based Marketing Agency.
Julie has been integrally involved in the development and successful implementation of direct marketing, loyalty and relationship programmes for Priceline, NRMA, RACV, Toyota, Sportscraft, Saba, St George Bank, MasterCard Worldwide and Westpac.

Ellis joined SBS in 2007 where she was responsible for the implementation of SBS’s CRM system and engagement programme across all SBS platforms. In the 18 months since implementation, SBS’s CRM programme has grown from an initial concept, into a living breathing communication platform abuzz with activity, including a 275% growth in the customer database and delivery of over 2 million email messages. The programme has now evolved to facilitate increased audience engagement through a more fluid combination of current direct marketing initiatives using the CRM system and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, giving SBS a more holistic approach to reaching audiences wherever they may be.

Jenny has been in technology driven marketing (on and offline) for the last 20 years. She has worked across Asia, America and Europe and is focused on driving innovation, growth and the evolution of the digital marketing industry.
As a director on the national board of the Australian Direct Marketing Association, a member of the digital round table of industry bodies and vice chair of the digital division of the AFA, Jenny is actively engaged in defining the Australian digital industry and in 2007 was named in B&T’s Digital Media Magazine as one of the "40 Biggest Players of the Digital Age”.
As an educator, Jenny is a head lecturer for the UTS AFA Ad School digital marketing program, She also chairs the digital education committee for the board of ADMA and is actively involved in cross industry training initiatives.
An experienced speaker, Jenny has given keynotes at conferences and seminars nationally and internationally about trends and best practices.
Starting her career in Europe in software development she then moved to the United States in the early nineties, working in multimedia production. She later took up a role as Global Director of Engagement and Project Management for Zentropy Partners, (McCann Worldgroups interactive division), . In 2000 Jenny relocating to Sydney to head up McCann Relationship Marketing (MRM) Australia and went on to become Head of Interactive for MRM Asia Pacific.
Leaving MRM In 2002, Jenny set up Ideagarden Consulting and ran this successfully before being lured back to the world of advertising in early 2006 when she took over as managing director of Tribal DDB Australia where she ran the Melbourne and Sydney offices. In 2008, Jenny returned to Ideagarden to drive digital change from a broader industry perspective.

Peter Buckmaster
Peter has over fifteen years experience in traditional and online media production, including: five years digital publishing and eLearning experience working in the not-for-profit sector; experience developing Interactive TV as the platform producer for the Australian Broadcast Commission’s (ABC) version of iBBC's Walking with Beasts (for OptusTV). Most recently he developed the technology and solution behind Amnesty International Australia's Bring David Hicks Home Campaign interactive cell installation – Silver ADMA award winner. He is also a produced writer of the Australian feature film Sample People featuring Kylie Minogue, Ben Mendelson and Joel Edgerton.

Jeremy Harris
Jeremy is the marketing guru behind Winemarket, an up-start online start-up wine shop that has just had its 1st birthday. A targeting evangelist, his specialty is matching products and services to customers across multiple channels including catalogues, letters, emails and outbound telemarketing. Jeremy’s experience includes the development and implementation of data marketing platforms, customer segmentation models and permission based marketing campaigns. His focus is currently on using dynamic and real-time customer data to create anticipated, entertaining and relevant offers to customers who actually want to hear about them.
Simon Hovell
Simon’s marketing career spans across client, agency and sales roles with experience to multiple industries working with direct and indirect go to market models.
After working at DDB and McCann Erickson he became a founding team member of both WSA Media and later emitch where he developed business strategies and acquisition models resulting in multi-million dollar growth for clients.

Nicola Hepenstall, Director, Open Mind Research Group
Understanding consumer media preference and channel integration: a research perspective.

Nicola is a Director of the Open Mind Research Group one of Australia’s leading communications research consultancies.
With nearly 20 years experience she has worked extensively across all facets of advertising and communications research. Nicola has a particular interest in media research and the impact of new technologies on consumer behaviour and, in this, she draws upon her academic work in the area of information processing as well as her experience measuring consumer behaviour for Australia’s readership and media survey, Roy Morgan Single Source. At Open Mind, she applies her specialist knowledge to evaluating the effectiveness of communications campaigns for Government and some of Australia’s largest private companies.
Nicola has co-authored international conference papers on how consumer research can increase advertising productivity and the impact of the internet on newspaper readership[1]. A regular presenter at the Australian Social & Market Research Society Conference, she has explored the impact of new technologies on the research process and presented a unique perspective on the effectiveness of advertising at driving behavioural change[2] based on research conducted by Open Mind.

Kara has advised some of Australia's largest public and government organisations on innovation acceleration programs, new business opportunity and marketing strategy development. Over the last 19 years she has worked with government, service, community and franchise industries and is currently responsible for Australia Post's Letters Group Innovation Centre, where her focus is on the identification, development and management of new product and service concepts to drive the use and effectiveness of mail as a marketing channel. Prior to running her own businesses Kara worked in Print, Publishing, Mailhouse and Distribution industries in Australasia. Kara has been a senior lecturer in Marketing at two of Australia’s leading Universities and is on the Franchise Council of Australia Committee, is a member of ADMA, AIM, FCA, International Academy of Science and is an inaugural committee member of the Franchising Council's Whirlwind Women in Franchising.

John is Managing Director and a co-founder of TransDM Pty Ltd, a premier data pooling and processing company based in Melbourne. Amel has a decade of international fundraising experience with some of the world’s leading nonprofit organisations (Red Cross and Save the Children).
She has used cutting edge direct marketing skills in the UK, Europe and Australia. Her specialties are acquisition and development of donors through direct mail and telemarketing.
Amel works as an independent fundraiser for Australian charities such as Lort Smith Animal Hospital, Worldwide Life Fund, Day of Difference and Seeing Eye Dogs Australia. Her goal is to provide non profit organisations with increased net revenue and return on investment so that more beneficiaries can be helped. |
